Well, anyway, I’ll be flying over the North Pole when I go to Laos and Cambodia in the fall. Want to see? I’m so excited!
That leg will be 15 hours, following a Great Circle, then I’ll change planes and fly 3 hours to Phnom Penh. I’m flying Cathay Pacific, which may well be a great airline, but it’s not Singapore Airlines, which is the airline I flew to Vietnam. But I don’t care! It’ll be my 2nd flight over the North Pole, I am a very very lucky girl. Here are the specifics, once I’m there:
I just finished watching The Big Sleep and spinning – what a nice morning! I slept in so late – 9:30! – and wish the day weren’t half over, but what to do. You need a lazy day now and then, right? Now I think I’ll make some bread, my favorite ciabatta recipe, and then do some knitting, and maybe a little more movie watching. One of my goals is to see all the AFI’s top 100 films, so there’s an abundance waiting for me. I hope you’re having such a lovely Sunday too!

Oh, that sounds like an amazing trip! My parents are going there this summer (for my dad to work at a cleft panel clinic), and I SO wish I were going along!
.-= On her own blog, Jocelyn just said ..Seriously? =-.
Really! What a coincidence – Laos isn’t the most common destination, but I know so many people who are going there. Maybe it’s much more common than I thought. Well, you can enjoy it vicariously through them, and then in November, through me……..until you get to go, yourself!
Wow, that looks so exciting! I would love to go to that part of the world sometime, but I don’t think it’s too likely. By father was born in Chieng Mai, Thailand, almost a century ago to a long-time missionary family. It would be so interesting to get a chance to see the area! My great-grandfather wrote a book called A Half Century among the Siamese and Lao. He arrived in 1858 and encountered his future father-in-law already there. So I think my father was the third generation born in Siam (as it then was). I see that the autobiography of my great-grandfather contains quite a few mentions of Luang Prabang, so you’ll be seeing some of the territory he explored.
.-= On her own blog, Anne Campbell just said ..East Lansing Art Festival =-.
WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!! Anne, what an amazing connection to that area! I’ll have to see if I can get a copy of that book. It looks like it’s available through Amazon. I’ll think of you and your family when I’m in Luang Prabang, which is supposed to be an incredible place.
Wow. What a great coincidence.
