I put these things in my blog to save them for myself — but you might really like this, too. If you like dancing in the movies (I don’t mean YOU getting up and dancing at the movie theater, you goof), look at this wonderful mashup. Travolta! Bacon! Uma! Flashdance! Ewan and Nicole! PENGUINS, for Pete’s sake!! I was smiling when it started, but busted out laughing pretty fast.

I’ve never seen Footloose, nor do I intend to. 1980s + Kevin Bacon = NO THANK YOU. But the reason for my comment is in regards to your video. You mentioned that you like to post in order to save them for yourself. Another way to save them would be to download straight from YouTube, which I just learned how to do. If you visit http://www.keepvid.com, you can download streaming YouTube clips to your computer. I’m always finding a video I like, and then BAM, a few weeks or months later, it’s been taken down for violating copyrights. Now, when I find one I love, I’ll download it, and it’s mine forever. I don’t know about WordPress, but Blogger has a new feature that lets you upload a video (just like you were doing a photo). Then you’re showing your own video, rather than an embed code. And when you look back at your blog years from now, that video will still be working!

    Just a thought…. Love you!

i’m so glad! it served exactly the same purpose for me, after my own immensely long and difficult day. i was interested at the outset, but when jack black did that spinning dance, i laughed out loud and grinned through the rest of it. here’s to a better weekend for us both!

P.S. – I do love dancing, though. There were some great ones in that video, just not the ones from the 80s. :) Trey is constantly making fun of me for the movies I’ve never seen. I stand on principle and refuse to watch many 80s movies, because the only reason he thinks they’re great is nostalgia. Objectively, they’re terrible! I don’t have the nostalgia, since I didn’t see them as a kid. I was too busy enjoying such fine cinema as Jack the Giant Killer and Darby O’Gill and Big Bird Goes to China. Damn straight.

I loved seeing the singing in the rain bits, and the rocky horror bits. i’m with you about flashdance and the 80s, generally (i was pregnant and nursing through that whole decade and just kind of missed it). but damn straight, and hell yeah to the movies you listed.

i’m with you on that principle. i also have a no-dakota principle, you know. :)
